2. Definitions
*** In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—
"article" means an article of the Constitution;
"Assembly constituency" means a constituency provided [by law] for the purpose of elections to the Legislative Assembly of a State;
"Council constituency" means a constituency provided [by law] for the purpose of elections to the Legislative Council of a State;

"Election Commission" means the Election Commission appointed by the President under article 324;
"order" means an order published in the Official Gazette;
"Parliamentary constituency" means a constituency provided by law for the purpose of elections to the House of the People;

"person" does not include a body of persons;
"prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act;
[(i) "State" includes a Union territory;]
"State Government", in relation to a Union territory, means the administrator thereof.
