Section 3Definitions

"appointed day" means the date appointed under sub-section (2) of section 1 for coming into force of this Act;

"Board" means the Board of Governors of the Institute constituted under sub-section (1) of section 5;

"Chairperson" means the Chairperson of the General Council;

"Director" means the Director of the Institute appointed under section 20;

"fund" means the fund of the Institute to be maintained under section 24;

"General Council" means the General Council constituted under sub-section (1) of section 15;

"Institute" means the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy incorporated under section 4;

"President" means the President of the Board appointed under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 5;

"Registrar" means the Registrar of the Institute referred to in section 21;

"Senate" means the Senate of the Institute referred to in section 17;

"Society" means the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy Society, Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh registered under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 2001 (Andhra Pradesh Act 35 of 2001); and

"Statutes" and "Ordinances" mean, respectively, the Statutes and the Ordinances of the Institute made under this Act.
